Immigration & Citizenship Immigration law determines under what circumstances a person has the right to come into or remain in a country. Moreover, it regulates the movement of a wide range of visitors. Finally, immigration law also encompasses refugee law which governs the granting of asylum to those seeking Canada's protection from the threat of persecution in their country of origin. Immigration practice is divided into personal and business immigration. The first includes individual, family, student and human rights or refugee applications, hearings and appeals. The second includes services to companies transferring personnel, temporary visas and work permits, and special inward investment/immigration programs.
